Journaling prompts: connecting to self

Each month I host a free 'Journaling for well-being' workshop. It's 30 minutes of support and inspiration for your journaling practice. We focus on two techniques:

1 - Wild writing, a free-style journaling method.

2 - Utilising guided prompts around a particular theme.

The theme for the session was connecting to self'.

Connecting with your inner self involves the intentional and reflective exploration of your thoughts, emotions, values, and aspirations.

Without this intention, each day you can find you disconnect a little further from what is true to you. Your inner wisdom, your intuition, your true self. Whatever you call it.

Discovering and befriending your inner soul, is a journey of self-discovery and self-awareness aimed at fostering a deeper understanding of who you are at your core.

Through practices like mindfulness, stillness, journaling, and examining your values, you can gain insights into your true desires, fears, and motivations.

At the height of self-awareness is the need and permission to cultivate self-compassion and embrace positive change. By regularly engaging in journaling prompts that encourage introspection, you create a space for authentic connection with your inner self, paving the way for personal growth and a more fulfilling life.

Try these ones to help you re-connect with your inner self.

  • When do you feel most connected to yourself?

  • Tuning into your intuition, what does your heart say to you?

  • Which of your values do you feel disconnected from?

  • What is significant to you that perhaps is being neglected currently?

  • If you could spend one day, reconnecting back to you, your heart, your inner wisdom, what would you be doing?

  • What prominent thoughts and feelings arise for you in this mindful moment?

If you find these prompts useful, why not come along to one of my free journaling workshops which take place monthly throughout the year - the details can be found here.

Alternatively, you can download my free journaling toolkit to get your started.
