Perceptions can be deceiving

Updated: Jun 26, 2020

From the outside you portray the perfect example of happiness.

You have it all.

A great job where you are respected and rewarded. A lovely home. A full social life with close family and friends. You explore exciting new places on your holidays. You work out and enjoy a healthy lifestyle. You’re generous and giving. You manage to neatly juggle all of life’s priorities.

On the inside, you feel quite the opposite.

You’re conflicted about what you have versus what you want. Guilt eats away at you - you have everything you could possibly want, you have no right to feel this way. You’re tired from maintaining the epitome of control and happiness. You work hard, you’re ambitious and are at a point in your career you never imagined you’d get to. But work has become a distraction as you try to avoid what is really going on inside. You try to push these thoughts away ‘it will pass, it will pass’. You yearn for space and freedom.

I’ve been here.

I know how lonely and dark it can be. But I also know that you can work past those fears to come through the other side into a place of contentment. The fears of feeling trapped, don’t have to mean drastic measures. Facing those fears and feelings will give you a deeper understanding of who you are and want you want so that you can live in greater alignment.

I did it. And you can too.
