Many people are exploring new territory, and never is this a more trepidatious time than when making decisions following news of your redundancy.
A number of people all exploring their options after being made redundant. Navigating this space with them is a privilege as they start to uncover what this means, and what they want now for themselves.
Some are grappling with the loss of identity. With no job title to support them, they are left questioning ‘who am I?’. I’m not surprised by this and it takes me back to the times when I’ve walked away from jobs. Even when I made the choice to leave, I vividly recall feeling left in limbo and confused at how I would introduce myself to strangers. My default when meeting people or talking about myself was to say 'I'm Gemma and I'm a <insert job title>'. And whilst this may be true, it is only one part of our identity.
The truth is we are so much more than our job titles, and for my clients on this road, it has been a joy to help them uncover and rediscover all of the other roles they play in life.
Nice to me you - I’m Gemma, I am a sister, a daughter, a friend, a girlfriend, a runner, a reader, a creator, a supporter, a leader, a wellbeing advocate, a feminist, a workshop facilitator, a legging-wearing wine drinker porridge fanatic, a writer, and a personal and business coach.
