Considering a career change? You hold the answers

Updated: May 6

These were the thoughts I had every time I thought about changing careers:

> What on earth will I do?

> Where do I start?

> What if I change my mind?

> Wouldn’t I be stupid to leave a secure job?

> Who will I be without my career?

> What if I’m unsuccessful?

> Is it a waste of everything I’ve worked for?

> What will my partner / parents / friends / employer say?!

> I don’t want to let anyone down.

> I don’t know how to do anything else.

> I should just carry on.

When I started considering something different, these were the questions that kept turning over in my head. It was overwhelming, I didn’t know where to start and I didn’t have anyone to talk to about it.

I didn’t know the answers to these questions. It took a while to realise that these were fears and were blocking me from moving forward. Gradually, I began to overcome each of these. The answer wasn’t in scouring job and recruitment sites.

The first step was in believing that I deserved to find a career that I was truly passionate about and that aligned with my values and the life I wanted to create for myself.

You too hold the answers to these questions, but they can be hard to navigate alone. Get in touch if you would like to start working through your fears to find your next career move.
