Journaling prompts: aligning your values

ree

Each month I host a free 'Journaling for well-being' workshop. It's 30 minutes of support and inspiration for your journaling practice. We focus on two techniques:

1 - Wild writing, a free-style journaling method.

2 - Utilising guided prompts around a particular theme.

The theme for the session was 'aligning your values'.

Your values act as your inner compass, your personal northern star.

Living in alignment with your values creates inner peace and contentment. Knowing what’s important to you helps you make (and feel confident about) decisions, supports your well-being and builds confidence and overall happiness.

When you’re living, and working in alignment with these values, you have a grounded sense of self.

Defining your values and being deliberate about how you fulfil them can give you greater clarity about what you want and don't want.

Values can help identify why you do what you do. They are activities, behaviours, beliefs, qualities or goals that you believe are important. They affect the choices you make and the sense of satisfaction with the outcomes of these choices.

  • Write about a recent ‘highlight’, proud moment or spark of happiness and joy.

  • Identify 5 things that were important to you about that moment.

  • Pick one that you’d like to explore and identify how you are living by that value in your life right now.

  • What happens to you and around you when this value is fully nourished?

  • What simple actions can you take to live more in alignment with this value over the coming days?

Why not save this post or share with a friend who you think may find these prompts useful.
