Confidence - to trust within

We often look to outside sources to boost our confidence, but what if you knew that confidence comes from within? How would that change how you felt about confidence?

We each have tools and techniques that may raise our confidence in particular scenarios - for example, you may need to prepare and keep notes before giving a presentation at work, or practice interview questions ahead of the interview itself. It may be that wearing a piece of clothing that makes you feel good or doing extra research ahead of a meeting.

Whatever it is, it’s great to know what works for you so you can prepare ahead of time. As well as those external bits that boost our confidence, I find it powerful to reflect on the true meaning as a reminder that confidence comes from within.

The work confidence comes from the Latin term ‘Con-fidere’, meaning ‘to trust within’. How does knowing this change your view of confidence? Do you trust yourself?

Affirmations are a great way to build confidence and reassure yourself of your own abilities.

‘I am good enough’

‘All the answers I need are within’

‘Everything is as it should be’

‘Whatever happens, I am loved’

‘I am stronger than I know’

‘Everything I need is within me’

‘Possibilities are endless’

‘There are no blocks I can not overcome’

Start with a daily affirmation to build your confidence. Notice how this can transform your mood and outlook when you recall that confidence comes from within.
