Journaling prompts: letting go

Each month I host a free 'Journaling for well-being' workshop. It's 30 minutes of support and inspiration for your journaling practice. We focus on two techniques:
1 - Wild writing, a free-style journaling method.
2 - Utilising guided prompts around a particular theme.
The theme for the session was 'letting go'.
Sometimes we hold on tight, when letting go would bring more ease. It doesn’t always mean moving on or forgetting, but instead can create space and release.
Letting go is the quiet act of loosening your grip on what no longer serves, supports, or speaks to you. Letting go doesn’t mean forgetting, denying, or discarding parts of yourself. It means you are no longer allowing them to drive you or drain you. You’re honouring them, learning from them, and deciding to release.
Like leaves falling in autumn, release can be a natural part of life. It can feel freeing, scary, sad, or all of the above. You don’t need to force anything out, but notice what wants to leave and invite whatever may be waiting underneath.
Try these prompts to explore further:
What are you carrying that is growing heavy?
If you knew you would be ok, what would you freely let go of?
When you have released something in the past, what did you learn?
What would letting go make space and energy for?
What do you need in order to hold this thing you’re carrying more lightly?
Why not save this post or share with a friend who you think may find these prompts useful.

Next month, my free journaling workshop takes place on 3rd November and is focused on the theme of fuels and drains. You can register here.
Alternatively, you can download my free journaling toolkit to get your started.
