Journaling prompts: confidently you

Each month I host a free 'Journaling for well-being' workshop. It's 30 minutes of support and inspiration for your journaling practice. We focus on two techniques:
1 - Wild writing, a free-style journaling method.
2 - Utilising guided prompts around a particular theme.
The theme for the session was 'confidently you'.
‘To build confidence, go where you have none’ - Dr Julie Smith says this in her book ‘Why has nobody told me this before?’.
A misconception about confidence is that we think that when we have it, we will always feel comfortable, relaxed and safe.
Building confidence often happens in those moments of stretch - when you’re stepping outside that comfort zone, doing something new, or taking on a new challenge. That is going to feel uncomfortable, especially if you’re doing something that’s visible or exposing, something for the first time, or if you feel that you’re in the minority.
Today’s journaling session focused on this theme of comfort vs discomfort to look at where we might be getting too comfortable and limiting our growth, and what it might look like to take small steps into that stretch and learning area.
Try these journaling prompts to aid your reflection on this subject:
What areas of life do I feel super comfy, content and relaxed?
What is one situation currently outside my comfort zone that could help me grow if I leaned into it?
When have I surprised myself by doing something I once thought I couldn’t do? What did that teach me?
What fears tend to hold me back from stretching myself, and what would I say to support myself through them?
How can I start viewing discomfort as evidence of growth rather than a sign to stop?
What would the most confident version of me do next even if it feels scary or unfamiliar?
And remember, you can join this free journaling community each month on the first Monday of the month.

Next month, my free journaling workshop takes place on 6th July and is focused on the theme of recharge and release. You can register here.
Alternatively, you can download my free journaling toolkit to get your started.
